Google advertising service faces GDPR illegal investigation

Following this year’s French penalty of 50 million euros, the Irish Data Protection Committee announced this week whether it is investigating whether the individual treatment method of Ad Exchange/Authorized Buyers for Google advertising is in violation of the EU GDP.

This also highlights the dilemma of online advertising and user privacy protection. This week, Apple announced that it will add a privacy tool for Safari. Only when the advertisement is placed and the user clicks on the advertisement, the first-party website can store the information clicked by the user. The third-party search website or the retailer itself cannot get the information and does not involve the consumer. Identity, address or other sensitive information helps prevent cross-site tracking.
